Counsellors and Advisors
At McGill, we know that counsellors and advisors are invaluable partners in the university selection and application process.
We share your goal of helping students find the right fit for their academic talents and interests. We also understand the challenge of navigating forever-changing educational programs and technologies, as well as the very human side of applicant and family expectations.
This website can help guide you and your students through the decision and application process. For a more personal introduction, our Recruitment & Admissions team is happy to connect directly with you to share information about programs, admission, and life at McGill. Send your questions, request a school visit or webinar by email.
Please be advised that there are several admission offices at McGill. The Enrolment Services team handles inquiries for all programs except: Dentistry, Law, Medicine, Music, and Religious Studies. For information about these specific programs, please consult our admission requirements.
With the highest average entering grade in the country, we are looking for the very best and brightest students.
Admission requirements are determined by a student’s educational background and the programs they wish to apply to. The admission review is then based on each student’s academic record, including their overall results and performance in prerequisite courses. With very few exceptions*, interviews and other documents (such as recommendation letters, personal statements and portfolios) are not used in the admission review.
Note that when transcripts are required for admission review, applicants upload unofficial copies directly to their file. Official copies are not required and we ask that schools do not mail/email transcripts.
- Applicants to Architecture, Dentistry, Education (except Physical Education), Law, Medicine, Music, Religious Studies, and Social Work are required to submit additional supporting documents.
- Major entrance scholarship applicants must submit a separate application and additional supporting documents.
Is my student presenting a competitive application?
Students considering an application are encouraged to consult last year's admission cut-offs provided to the right. These are meant to be helpful guidelines that represent the lowest grades admitted from the previous admission cycle. Admission to McGill is competitive and subject to availability. As such, the grades required for admission may fluctuate.
